So much has happened since I last posted on here. I have stitched as much as I have been around in the last couple of years. Not long after my last post on here, we learned some very heart breaking things that had happened in our family and had to put everything on hold to deal with that. During my absence I have also lost two family members that were dear to my heart my grandfather and my great-aunt. On a positive note, we as a family are on the mend, and all of us are back in the home again after a very long 5 years of my oldest being out for treatment. I hope to be able to be around more often now.
Wow, I did not realize that it had been almost a month since I lasted posted anything on here. I do apologize, to my loyal followers and any visitors, for my absence. The past several weeks has seen many things but stitching was not one of them, unfortunately.

Some of you may recall that in my last post I had finally figured out what I wanted to be when I groi up. Well, I have since then opened up two online shops. One is an etsy.com shop and the other is one i purchased. I am excited to have them up and running, but really discouraged with the lack of visits or sales.

Long story short, I had been hoping that this would take off and I could quit working and concentrate on jewelry making and stitching until I could actually get a brick and mortar store up and going. I do not mind working, but when you wake up everyday and dread going to work, it's time to do something different. I used to love my job, but recently with all that has gone on with my children, the added stress from my job is almost overwhelming. I ended up having to take some time off just to keep from going postal on someone. I do not want to sound like I am whining or complaining, so forgive me if I do. I would greatly appreciate it if you all would just visit each of my sites and let me know what you think. I would love some honest opinions on the layout of my personal site and the of the jewelry itself. I am not asking you guys to buy anything so please do not feel pressured, of course, I will not be upset if you do. I really want this to take off and turn into something I could do full time. Please let me know if you think I have what it takes in regards to the jewelry designing. I am going to attempt my first ever craft show mid june.

I am sorry that my stitching blog has turned into something other than a stitchy blog. Once I get enough product built up I will once again go back to stitching. Maybe since I am off on Sunday and this is IHSW I will stitch the day away on Sunday.

Until next time, happy stitching to those of you who are stitching.

Oops, I guess you guys might need some websites huh. http://www.rabeadsdesign.com/ and at etsy.com the shop is listed under rabeadcreations or raggedde ann's bead designs
Thanks again to all of you
So, at long last, I have finally decided what I want to do when I grow up. I mentioned in my last post a couple of weeks ago that I was taking a stitching break to work on some beading. Well, I have discovered that I absolutely love making jewelery and the ideas come so easily. I have decided that I am going to try to open my own business making and selling beaded jewelery and other beaded items.

I have several design ideas in mind for some christmas ornaments and a couple of support ribbon necklaces. I can not wait for the time to sit down and actually draw the designs out in a beaded pattern. Right now I have been busy making earrings, braclets, and necklaces. Tonight, I bought a display to put some of the finished products on so that I can get some better quality pictures without my "work" mess in the background. I can't decide whether or not I should go ahead and post the pictures I have so far here or wait until I have some better ones so that I can show my work off here.

I am trying to decide how to start out, if I want to start out online or just at flea markets and local beauty shops and maybe try to work some craft shows. Do any of you have any suggestions or helpful information. I would appreciate any feedback or ideas you all have to offer.

Ok, so I can't stand it. I know you all like pictures so I will show a few just remember they are not good pictures, they are just the ones I snapped to send to my husband when I would finish somethhing or have a question about a certain piece.

So there you have a preview of what i've been working on. I plan on having a website set up in the next few days and I have an email that I will be using strictly for this purpose, rabeadcreations@live.com feel free to let your friends know. I will let you know when I have the website up and running.

I did not mean for this to become such a runaway post, I just had a lot I felt the need to share with you all tonight.

I will be back in a couple of weeks with some stitching updates and pictures.

Until next time happy stitching and have an enjoyable weekend.

It seems like I am always busy, but feels like nothing ever gets accomplished. I have set my stitching aside for a few weeks to pursue beading. I've beaded a few small project before, but I am currently working on a braclet that seems to be taking forever to get anything done on, but I guess that is okay since I am teaching myself as I go. It seems I never start any new project or hobby the easy way I always dive in head first so, it's either sink or swim. I will try to upload some progress pictures later, I can't find the battery charger cord for my camera and it's just a pain to get pictures from my phone to the computer. I guess ultimately I am just too lazy to do it.

I have stitched some since my last post a couple of weeks ago. I worked mainly on the nutcracker stocking for all of Feb and a couple of days in March. I will post my official updates for everything once I find my cord or buy a new one.

In other areas my youngest son is a very sick little man right now. He has been running a fever and has a horrible cough. I have been debating all evening on wether or not to take him to the emergency room. Since he is finally sleeping and not coughing I think I will take him to an urgent care clinic in the morning.

Happy St. Patrick's day to everyone. Have a wonderful stitch filled weekend.
I hope everyone had a productive week this past week. I had a long week at work and a short week at home this past week. I think today was the first day I've had off in a while where I have not had a long list of appointments and obligations to fulfill. I did clean house a bit today, not nearly as much as needed to be done, but enough. For the first time in who-knows-how-long I felt like cooking a meal and having company. Tonight I plan on sitting in my happy chair and stitching until I fall asleep. I have not been able to pick up a needle and thread in a couple of weeks now, so I am beginning to think that maybe my mojo is leaving again.

Now I have a stitchy related question. I have never really used any particular rotation system, but I have a lot of things I need and want to work on and can not come up with a way to work on all of them. How do you make it work for you? Do you stitch on one until its done, especially if it's an obligaiton stitch,? do you rotate out weekly, monthly? or as the mood hits? I would really like to know what some of you have found that works for you. I just can't seem to find anything I am happy with and spend more time trying to decide what to stitch on than actually stitching.

Hopefully, by the end of tomorrow or Sunday before I go to work I will have some stitchy pictures to share with everyone, but until then happy stitching and enjoy your weekend.
I want to thank you all for the get well wishes over the past few days. They have certainly paid off. I was finally able to go see my son this past weekend. The drive to the new facility was a much better drive than the previous one had been. I do not know how long he will be gone, but at least the trip will be much more pleasant.

I had planned on stitching in the motel room friday night, but by the time my mom and I actually got to spend any time in the room we were both so tired we just went to bed early. Saturday was the drive home and a long night at work. Sunday was spent sleeping and working and a dinner date with my husband and younger son.

I think this week, I have nothing that has to be done on my days off. I am gratefully looking forward to a couple of days of lazing around in my stitchy chair.

Until next time happy stitching.
Hello everyone, I hope each of you are well. It has been another crazy few days around here. I am mostly over the bronchitus I had, I still have a bit of a cough. I am hour number 36 without sleep, so I am beginning to feel a little sleep deprived, only a few more hours worth of work to get done then I can go to bed. So please forgive me if I wander and am not very coherent tonight.

As for my IHSW, I do not have much progress to show. I am so upset with myself I haven't even taken very many pictures. I did manage last weekend while I was so sick to get the face of a nutcracker backstitched, but that is really all of the stitching I did on the official weekend of hermitting. I had planned on using this week's days off which were today and tomorrow to do more hermitting, but as it turns out I spent today working on stuff for work, and I spent many hours on the phone dealing with stuff. Tomorrow morning I am heading to Springdale AR, to see my son. I am hoping that I will have a little time tomorrow evening to stitch in the motel room. Rest assured now that I am mostly caught up on work stuff, I will be stitching after work instead of working more. I have my fingers and toes crossed that by Monday afternoon I will have more pictures to share.

As for my TUSAL update, I did not take a new picture of my ort jar for the simple reason it doesn't really look any different than it did last month.

In other news, I did get Holiday Highlights back from being framed and have a picture of the finished product to show off. That is one UFO I can mark off my list completely now. Sorry, this is not the best picture I have taken.

I thought I would post a picture of my son. This was taken several months ago. I can not believe how tall he is, especially since I am so short and round. Due to the circumstances of why he is in treatment I really have mixed emotions about the trip tomorrow. Overall, I am looking forward to seeing him again. This past year has been really hard on me only seeing him once a month and sometimes not even that. There were even times when only seeing him that often was too much. I wish I felt more comfortable talking about what is going on, but I just can't publically yet.

I guess I have rambled long enough tonight, time to get some more work done so I can take a nap. Until next time happy stitching.

Dear followers and visitors, I have not abandoned my blog, I have been very ill with bronchitus so all i've done for over a week now is work and sleep. I will be back with my IHSW update sometime after friday. I had planned on hermitting this past weekend with everyone else, but unfortunately I was unable to. I will also have my feb tusal update this weekend as well.

On a more positive note, I think I am going to try to go see my oldest son this weekend. I have not gotten to see him or speak to him since his court date back in january. I miss talking to him. I have received a couple of brief letters from him, but they just are not the same as talking to him in person. We have an MDS screening via phone on Thursday afternoon to help determine what treatment is needed and where to go next. Hopefully, it will be somewhere close by.

That is all I have for now.
Amanda
Amanda "Stitcher Mom"http://www.blogger.com/profile/01116065152458586693noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4801203816066904020.post-24261918800487750002012-02-13T23:49:00.000-08:002012-02-13T23:49:11.153-08:00

Somedays I miss the old days of not having to be a responsible adult. Today, was one of those days. I am so envious of all those who got to take a snow day today. In the winter I like nothing more than sitting curled up on my couch with a warm fuzzy blanket and a good book or stitching project and watching the snow fall. I got to watch the snow for a couple of hours but then I had to get ready and go to work. I have not had a "snow day" since I started this job a couple of years ago, but being on the management team it is hard to convince them that you can not get to work because of the weather. The joys of being responsible.

On a stitchy note, I have been stitching on the Nutcracker Christmas stocking a bit and have most of another face of one of the nutcrackers completed. I have not taken pictures yet, but when I do I will post some progress pictures.

I picked up Holiday Highlights from the framer over the weekend and was finally able to give it to my co-worker I stitched it for. I was happy with the way it turned out and I am really happy I went with the green frame.

Well, I think that is about it until I get more pictures loaded on the computer. So, until next time happy stitching.
For the past few weeks since the update I have worked on a few different projects depending on my mood. My main focus at first was on the Holy Night Stocking, but all that straw just finally got to me, so I moved on to work on Luna Landra for a couple of days and I started Treasure Dragon stocking for my son, and I also worked on Nutcracker Christmas Stocking. Unfortunately, I did not get to stitch as much as I wanted to the past couple of weeks due to an illness and death in the family, along with work and other personal things going on. But here are some pictures.
We appreciate each and everyone of them.
This week I have not managed to get much stitching time in due to all the travel. I did work on Three Kings and I started stitching a stocking for my youngest son. I have not had time to take pictures yet, but will do so later in the week on my days off.
Thanks for stopping by today. Until next time happy stitching.

I am not looking forward to telling my youngest, as he has been through enough already. To say this week has been stressful is an understatement. I am hoping that now we can start moving forward in a positive direction and have some good news for awhile.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and gets lots of stitching in.

It is just a matter of days now. I really appreciate all the prayers that were sent our way the past several hours.
Yesterday was court day for my oldest. I have extreme mixed emotions on the outcome. The charges were much more severe than we had anticipated. The judge did order him into another treatment facility for as long as it takes. We do not lnow at this time where that will be. At least he is where he will get help and his younger brother and I are both safe. But... It has been harder to handle than I thought it would be. So, no it is going to be a time of more healing...hopefully.
Thank you all for all of your support.

My family is in desperate need of extra prayers and positive thoughts tonight. First of all, me ex-fil is in the hospital, and not expected to live through the week.He is the one member of my ex inlaws that kept in touch with the boys.
Secondly, my oldest goes to court in the morning for a plea hearing. We really need the judge to send him to a group home as we are not in a position to provide the extreme amont of supervision and structure that he needs.
Amanda "Stitcher Mom"http://www.blogger.com/profile/01116065152458586693noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4801203816066904020.post-79925385084855589452012-01-23T06:29:00.000-08:002012-01-23T06:29:15.449-08:00IHSW update

This weekend I participated in my first IHSW. This weekend I worked mainly on the stocking I am stitching for my boss. I made a good deal of progress on the stocking, but as I stated in a different post it is slow go with all the straw and it is not something that I would have stitched for myself. I have one more stocking to stitch for her then I will be done with all of my obligation stitching and will be able to work on stuff for me. Also over the weekend I put some beads on one corner of 3 Kings that I am working on for the BAP Challenge at Becky Bee's Stitching Hive. Unfortunately I do not have my before pictures anymore. I don't know what I did to them but they have dissappeared.
I finished the Baby sampler I was working on early this morning after I got home from work. I stitched this for a co-worker and decided it was time to get it done now that the baby was here. I had started the project back in November on one of our trips to the treatment facility to see my son. I had just been stitching on this on those trips and had been unable to make much progress on it until this trip. I was able to stitch most of it over the weekend and just had to finish it since I was so close to being done.

Until next time happy stitching.
We made the trip out of town to the treatment facility my oldest son is at. We had a good visit with him and a productive therapy session where little brother got to let somethings out. We ended up staying an extra night and hanging out in motel room playing games and stitching. I stitched on the birth announcement sampler I am working on for a co-worker. I will post pictures once we get home and I have access to the computer.

Until next time happy stitching and thanks for stopping by for a visit.
Well, let me just say, I hope that yesterday is not a sign of how the year is going to go. Last night was what one could call explosive. I work as a shift manager in a local fast food restuarant, and we had a rather nasty electrical fire in a fryer that started a grease fire in said fryer. In the end the fire department was called out and our store is closed at least for the day. As of right now, no official word on re-open except that the big man plans on being able to re-open in the morning. But, we still are waiting word from the health inspector. I know that I did everything I knew to do at the time not knowing it was electrical, but I feel as though I shoud have or at least could have done something different. Thankfully there were no customers in the building when it got so bad, and all employees made it out just fine. I just wish they would make the decision to go ahead with our remodel now instead of waiting another couple of months until the scheduled date.
To top that off my mother called me this morning with the news that the woman my grandfather had been dating off on and on for the past 15 years passed away in her sleep lastnight. My condolences go out to her family.
I really have no stitchy news at the moment. I did stitch for a couple of hours on my stocking yesterday before I went to work, but have not even picked it up yet today.
There was also a bit of good news on Friday, we did find out that insurance approved for my oldest son to stay in the treatment facility he is in until his court date later in the month. Which buys me more time of trying to figure out how to arrange everything I need to for him to be released and buys my youngest son more time to come to terms with what happened and maybe get to a point where he is comfortable being in the same house as his brother again.
I need some good stitch therapy, but I am too restless to sit still and too tired to concentrate to stitch.
I hope everyone has had a safe and happy holiday season.
Until next time happy stitching

I have two I need to finish before I work on anything else other than a birth sampler for a co-worker. I just wish this stocking was something I wanted to stitch so it wouldn't be so hard to work on it.

I hope all of you had a wondeful Christmas with your family and friends. According to DH and DS we had a good Christmas here despite my severe depression that day.

Today I have taken down the tree and put all the decorations in storage bins so we can store them all here at the apartment instead of in our storage building. After I update all my blogs for the different activities I have joined in I plan on spending the rest of the evening stitching. I will have two new pages updated on here within the next few days. If I don't get to it today, it will be on my next day off.

Here is a picture of the stocking as I left it lastnight.
I actually spent about 2 hours stitching tonight before going to bed. I am alternating between a Haed and an ink circles design right now. I have never been one to actually plan what I am stitching on throughout the year, but I think I may try planning a little and working out some type of rotation system. At the moment I am stitching on whatever suits my mood but sometimes I end up spending more time trying to decide on something than stitching. I definitely have to figure out a better storage system for my thread than what I have going right now. That is my project for after while.

Well I need to crawl in bed for the night. Until next time happy stitching and thanks for stopping by.
